Controlling Carpenter Bees
Got a Carpenter Bee problem? I've had them real bad this year.
I don't like using non-organic products to manage my insect pest problems but these Carpenter Bees are destroying my house and the fence around my vegetable garden.
Here's a product
Permethrin 10% 32oz " onClick="window.location.href='/cgi-bin/counter.pl?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eamazon%2Ecom%2Fgp%2Fproduct%2FB00061MSS0%3Fie%3DUTF8%26tag%3Dgardensupplyr-20%26linkCode%3Das2%26camp%3D1789%26creative%3D9325%26creativeASIN%3DB00061MSS0%22%3EPermethrin%2010%25%2032oz%3C%2Fa%3E%3Cimg%20src%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eassoc-amazon%2Ecom%2Fe%2Fir%3Ft%3Dgardensupplyr-20%26l%3Das2%26o%3D1%26a%3DB00061MSS0%22%20width%3D%221%22%20height%3D%221%22%20border%3D%220%22%20alt%3D%22%22%20style%3D%22border%3Anone%20%21important%3B%20margin%3A0px%20%21important%3B%22%20%2F%3E&referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Egarden-supply-resources%2Ecom%2Fcarpenterbees%2Ehtml'; return false;">Permethrin
. I'm hoping it will do the trick.
For those who may not know. A Carpenter Bee looks very much like a fat Bumble Bee. There are some minor differences but chances are, you won't get the opportunity to look at one that close anyway. Here's how I identify them: You'll know when you hear that buzzing-drilling sound as they make 1/2 inch holes in your house. These holes are pretty precicely 1/2 inch. They go in a short way then make a 90 degree turn and go from a few inches to a couple of feet. During this time you will see and hear a lot of activity with many bees buzzing around. The female Carpenter Bee lays eggs and gathers necter after which she seals off the tunnel. The larve are noisy and attract another problem: Woodpeckers! If you don't control them this season, guess what? They'll come back and be even worse next year!
